I’m incredibly grateful to have officially completed my first year of the Master of Arts in Public Relations program at the University of Miami School of Communication. Looking back, this year has been filled with opportunities to learn, grow, and challenge myself both academically and professionally.
Throughout the year, I expanded my knowledge of strategic communication, media relations, crisis communication, public relations writing, research methods, and influencer marketing. Beyond the coursework, I developed a deeper understanding of how communication can shape relationships, influence audiences, and solve real-world challenges.
One of the highlights of this year was having the opportunity to work as a Graduate Assistant alongside (Jack) Wesley P. Miller IV, who was also my professor during both the fall and spring semesters. Learning from him in the classroom and working with him outside of it provided invaluable insights into the profession and helped me grow as both a student and an aspiring PR professional. Thank you, Jack, for your mentorship, guidance, and support throughout the year.
As I look ahead to my second and final year, I’m excited to continue building my experience, taking on new challenges, and preparing for the next step in my career. I’m especially looking forward to applying what I’ve learned through future professional opportunities and continuing to develop as a communications practitioner.
Thank you to my professors, classmates, mentors, friends, and family for being part of this journey. Looking forward to what the next year brings.
