Halfway through my study abroad program in Barcelona, and it has already been an incredible experience both professionally and personally.
Over the past few weeks, our cohort has had the opportunity to learn firsthand about communication, media, marketing, and business in Spain through visits to organizations including PRISA Radio , ACN – Agència Catalana de Notícies, Life at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, TV3 Group, and SEAT S.A..
Each visit has provided a unique perspective on how organizations communicate with their audiences, adapt to changing media landscapes, and build strong brands in both local and global markets. As a Public Relations graduate student, seeing these concepts applied in real-world settings has been incredibly valuable.
Beyond the classroom and company visits, we’ve immersed ourselves in the culture of Barcelona through experiences such as exploring the Gothic Quarter, visiting Sagrada Família, Park Güell, Casa Batlló, and Casa Milà, participating in a Catalan cooking class, and even taking a flamenco lesson.
One of the biggest takeaways so far has been understanding how communication, culture, and business are interconnected across different industries and countries. Learning directly from professionals while experiencing a new culture has made this program both educational and unforgettable.
Looking forward to seeing what the second half of the program has in store.
